Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA PUENTE - Deputies continue their search for a suspect who wounded two people Thursday afternoon. The shooting took place around 3:30 p.m. on North Sunset Avenue near Hutchcroft Street January 30, according to Sgt. Enriquez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. Two unidentified victims were located roughly a block apart from each other, Enriquez said. Both were hospitalized and their conditions were undisclosed. An anonymous person called 9-1-1, Enriquez said. At least one car was found riddled with bullets as deputies worked to contain the scene and investigate.
Enriquez could only state a Hispanic male was seen fleeing the area when gunfire rang out. No better description of the male, nor a vehicle description was provided. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA PUENTE - A gun was reportedly found inside a vehicle after the driver fled deputies and slammed into another vehicle and a wall Friday afternoon. During a traffic stop at Evanwood Avenue and Lassalette Avenue at 5 p.m., the driver refused to comply with commands to exit and reached for a bag placed on the floorboard. Fearing a gun was in the bag, the deputy grabbed the driver’s arm, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. The driver bit the deputy on the hand and fled the scene, setting off a brief pursuit that ended when the driver struck an occupied vehicle at Willow Avenue and Fairgrove Avenue, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. The suspect vehicle also struck a wall. “The Los Angeles County Fire Department transported the suspect to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation and clearance for booking. A firearm was recovered inside the bag the suspect was reaching for,” the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
The female driver in the vehicle struck by the suspect was hospitalized with minor injuries. The deputy was also treated for his injuries. The suspect’s name was not released. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA PUENTE - A boyfriend stabbed during a domestic fight and the male suspect who stabbed himself while being detained are expected to survive their wounds, a Sheriff’s sergeant said. The stabbing unfolded in the area of Amar Road and Sunset Avenue around 8:53 p.m. January 2. Deputies arrived to the scene of the stabbing and while the suspect was being detained, he allegedly stabbed himself in the chest, according to Sgt. Macias of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. “It was a domestic conflict between boyfriend and boyfriend,” Macias told SGV CityWatch.
The suspect was transported in critical condition. The severity of the wound to the victim was not immediately known. “The victim and the suspect in the stabbing are going to live,” Macias told SGV CityWatch. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA PUENTE - A driver was booked on suspicion of DUI Wednesday after striking a pole in a crash so violent it ripped his vehicle in half. The unidentified suspect survived the crash with a traffic pole and suffered only minor injuries. The pole remained largely unscathed, except for a destroyed crosswalk button, according to Lt. James Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The suspect was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI.
Passersby reported on local neighborhood watch pages through Facebook that there were possibly a death caused by the crash, but Lt. Long and Los Angeles County Fire Dispatch Supervisor Martin Rangel reported no fatalities or other injuries in the crash. The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle, Long said. The driver was transported by firefighters to a trauma center, Rangel said. |
