The crash occurred around 5:47 p.m. near 1600 Puddingstone Dr. The pilot was reportedly practicing landing approaches when the single-engine Cessna 177RG crashed into a nearby nursery, according to Ian Gregor spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration. According to an FAA registry, the 177RG fixed-wing, single-engine Cessna that crashed was manufactured in 1977. The owner is a man with a Los Angeles address. It is unclear what extent of injuries were sustained, but a Los Angeles County Fire battalion chief reported one possible death at the scene, according to Los Angeles County Fire radio traffic. The crash was dispatched around 5:47 p.m. at 1600 Puddingstone Dr. at 5:47 p.m. Los Angeles County Firefighters were called to assist La Verne Firefighters, according to Dispatch Supervisor Cheryl Sims of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It was unclear if the plane crashed while in flight, or if the plane was taxying on a runway or even at the airport at all. A representative from Brackett Field was unavailable to provide details. La Verne officers stopped the duo in the area of Arrow Highway and Fairplex Drive around 5 p.m. September 23 after discovering the vehicle was stolen. After detaining the man and woman, a search of the vehicle was conducted, revealing a TEC-22 firearm, a large amount of meth and burglary tools, according to the La Verne Police Department. David Flores, 34, from Los Angeles, and Jamie Tejada, 20, from Rancho Cucamonga were both booked on a variety of charges, including several gun related charges, possession of methamphetamine for sales, possession of burglary tools and for warrants, La Verne Police said. Tejada and Flores are scheduled to appear in Pomona Superior Court Thursday, September 27. The suspect came into possession of the stolen debit card and used it twice, August 24 and August 25, withdrawing $800 total from a Glendora One West Bank, 600 W. Route 66, according to the La Verne Police Department. It is unclear how the debit card was taken and how the suspect learned the victim’s PIN number. The suspect appears to be a white man in his early to id 20’s. He sports a goatee. The suspect is unknown to the victim. The suspect, 23-year-old Erik Cervantez of Chino Hills, refused to stop for officers on Westbound Arrow Highway at San Dimas Avenue around 5 p.m. Cervantez crashed near Bonita Avenue and Magnolia Avenue, according to the La Verne Police Department. The stolen SUV struck a curb and rolled over. It struck a tree as the SUV came to a rest. Cervantez was briefly hospitalized at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for minor injuries, but he was eventually booked on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle, felony evading and possession of methamphetamine. |
