The crash was reported around 2:06 a.m. in the 15800 block of Caldwell Street December 29. Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station arrived and believed one of the people involved was deceased at the scene, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. A heavy duty tow truck was requested to upright the tipped-over box truck that weighed an estimated five tons. The crash occurred at 5:40 p.m. when a male driving a 2012 Dodge Avenger east on Temple Avenue west of Mangate Avenue veered into opposing lanes, striking a2016 Honda Accord, according to the California Highway Patrol. Three people were pulled from the Honda Accord before it caught fire. The driver was trapped in the Avenger and died at the scene. The three occupants of the Accord were taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for minor, moderate and major injuries. The female was later pronounced dead, according to the CHP. “Alcohol and/or drugs were not suspected to be a factor in this traffic crash,’ according to the CHP in a written statement. Any witnesses to the crash are urged to call CHP Investigating Officer A. Liu at 626-33-1164. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor VALINDA - A man estimated in his 40s died after being hit by a vehicle before 10 p.m. Friday, the California Highway Patrol and a Sheriff’s sergeant said. The collision occurred on Amar Road west of Echelon Avenue June 14. The injured man was transported to Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina where he was pronounced dead, according to Officer Patrick Kimball of the CHP Traffic Management Center.
The man was pronounced dead at 10:24 p.m., Kimball said. Industry deputies arrived to aid the CHP with traffic control, according to Sgt. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor BALDWIN PARK - A pedestrian crossing Amar Road outside a marked crosswalk remains hospitalized Wednesday. A 56-year-old La Puente man was injured after being hit in westbound lanes of Amar Road west of Echelon Tuesday, May 28 just after 9 p.m. The area where the pedestrian crossed is inadequately lit and the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing, according to Sgt. Elizabeth Van Valkenburgh of the California Highway Patrol Baldwin Park Office. The latest update Van Valkenburgh had was from last night, that the pedestrian remains in critical condition due to multiple internal injuries.
The driver, a 20-year-old male, turned west onto Amar Road from northbound Echelon and hit the pedestrian a few hundred feet west of the intersection, Van Valkenburgh said. The collision was reported just after 9 p.m. near Amar Road and Echelon Avenue. The driver stopped at the scene, according to Lt. James Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station.
Long only described the pedestrian’s condition as very serious. The collision is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol Baldwin Park Office.
