Jeffrey Powley, a 54-year-old Glendora man, died from a gunshot wound, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. First responders were sent to the Antonovich Trailhead near San Dimas Avenue just before 2 p.m. Thursday. It is not immediately clear where exactly Powley was found on the trail. A call to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Parks Bureau has not been returned. Although recently reported, the assault took place on an unknown portion of the trails in mid January, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. That area is largely frequenting by trail goers and by pet owners who frequent the San Dimas Dog Park, 301 Horsethief Canyon Road. The suspect is described as a man wearing green cargo pants, a black sweater and dirty, black Converse tennis shoes, according to the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station. “The purpose of this notification is to advise those frequenting the area of the San Dimas Dog Park, to use caution and be cognizant of your surroundings,” according to the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station in a written statement.
